New Chamber members, Johnny Knigzneski and Jill Colon of 80 Licks Ice Cream, recently appeared on the TV show Better Connecticut with Scot Haney. Steve Pedneault, founder and principal, Forensic Accounting Services joined forces with the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA), to donate $2,000 to provide 14 scholarships to high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in forensic accounting. Pedneault is a certified public accountant, certified fraud examiner and forensic certified public accountant. Glastonbury Art Guild’s 46th Annual On The Green Fine Art & Craft Show will be held on the Hubbard Green in Glastonbury on September 6 & 7, 10am to 5 pm and is free. With 200 artists from around the United States showcasing their work, the On the Green Show is one of the nation’s top juried outdoor art and craft festivals.

Celebrate the grand opening of The Connecticut River Valley Inn, a bed and breakfast, on Saturday, September 13, 6:00 - 9:00pm. Crystal Rock Goes Solar was the headline in the media when they recently unveiled their $2.2 million project of installing 1600 solar panels with the help from the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund. The Second Chance Shop, sponsored by the all-volunteer Glastonbury Auxiliary of the Village for Families and Children, recently donated $64,000 to the Hartford-based Village, which provides aid to children in crisis and programs for families and children. They wish to thank all those that have made donations over the year and shopped at the store. The shop is now open for business Tuesday - Friday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Donations of gently used clothing, household items, accessories, books, gifts, and toys are gratefully appreciated. The Glastonbury Art Guild will present the 46th Annual On the Green Fine Art & Craft Show on the Hubbard Green in Glastonbury on September 6 & 7, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Andrew Chasse, owner of Hansoo Taekwondo Academy located on Commerce Street, Glastonbury, will ride in the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) on August 2 and 3. On Friday, June 20, William McGurk, President and CEO of Rockville Bank and Rockville Financial (RCKB), presided over the NASDAQ closing bell to celebrate the bank’s 150th anniversary. The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk (South Windsor) in partnership with Rockville Bank officially open its new park, Rockville Bank Park with a brick walkway. This kicked off Rockville Bank’s 150th anniversary celebration.
Rockville Bank is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of Connecticut’s “Nutmeg State Games” with a donation of $10,000 to this nonprofit organization. In 2008, 7,000 young athletes from Connecticut will compete in the Olympics-style festival.
