In celebration of Glastonbury's rich agricultural history, the Historical Society of Glastonbury is proud to present its annual Farm Day on Sunday, September 20th from 1:00pm-5:00pm at the Welles-Shipman-Ward House, 972 Main Street, South Glastonbury. This fun-filled day will include historic trade demonstrations such as rope making, and weaving, games such as "Age of Sail," an 18th century game where kids learn to sail, and colonial crafts. Also on hand will be various farm animals, including horses, chickens, bunnies, and goats. There will be other games and activities for the kids, such as bobbing for apples, guess the weight of the pumpkin, sack races, checkers, stilts, ring toss, soap carving, and bowling. Tours of historic treasure-filled barns, sheds, and the 1755 Connecticut River Valley mansion, the Welles-Shipman-Ward house, will also be offered. Farm Day admission and activities are FREE! General Parking is at St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd. There is a path connecting the two properties at the rear of the parking lot. Handicap parking is at the Welles-Shipman-Ward property.
